Want to Read Infinite Jest?

Want to Read Infinite Jest?

A week ago, I lay on my bed with an e-reader and flipped through all of the titles in my e-book library. Infinite Jest was just hanging out on the shelf. I don't even remember buying it, but there it was. So I read the foreword and decided it was time to take the plunge.

Since reading the foreward of the 2016 edition I have on my Kindle, I've ordered the 30th Anniversary paperback that weighs 3 pounds – yes, I waited - and I've been carrying it from room to room like a stuffed animal.

I posted a picture of the tone in my group chat with my friends from work, and it made me realize how different we all are, literarily. None of them had heard of the book, even though they are all my age. I thought the title was ingrained in all teens of the 90s like The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I sit in my wrongness being wrong.

I know only one other person who's read this book, and I only know him adjacently. So I'm kind of doing this alone.

If anybody's interested in reading Infinite Jest and doesn't want to do it alone, you're welcome to join my club on Fable called Only Infinite Jest.
